THE WEEKLY HALFHOLIDAY.
Wellington, March 22. To-day, a petition containing 7109 signatures was presented by the Trades and Labour Council to the Mayor, requesting that a poll be taken to decide the question of which day Wellington should observe as the weekly hall-holiday. The promoters of the petition that Saturday was the national day tor a half-holiday, as it would allow better facilities for enjoyment than Wednesday.
