SCULLING.

THE PARRAMATTA HUNDRED. Svdnkv, March 18. The preliminary heats of the Parramatta Hundred were rowed yesterday. The weather was fine, and there was a rising tide. Results : First Heat.—Ripley, start, i ; Theo. Towns, 48, 2 ; G. Day, 18, 3. Ripley was never overhauled, and won a good race by a length. Second Heat. —Norman Towns, 44sec, 1 ; W. West, 78, 2 ; S. McLean, 75, 3. Towns gradually forged through and won by two lengths, a great finish between the other placed men, J. Arnst pushing McLean hard for third placeThird Heat. —Hagney, iSsec, 1 ; Simpson, 70, 2 ; Paddou, 45, 3. The presence of R. Arnst and other cracks, including Messenger, lent additional interest to this heat. Hagney, from a good start, overhauled the limit man at Tennyson, Lawson (6osec) lying fourth. Arnst (scratch), with Messenger (32sec) were together, well in the rear, and at Cabarita Arnst retired, despite many requests to finish the course. Hagney, finishing well, won by four lengths. Lawson was fourth, and Messenger in the ruck.

Fourth Heat. —W. Fog well, iSsec, 1 : F'. Matterson, 40, 2 ; C. Matterson, 75, 3. Fog well steadily made his way to the front, took charge at Tennyson, and jumped away, finishing two lengths to the good. Kemp was fourth. Arnst’s defeat has robbed the final, to be rowed next Saturday, of a good deal of interest.
