THE GAS WORKS.

FEBRUARY’S WORKING. At last night’s Council meeting, the Town Clerk turnished the following report on the working of the gas works for the mouth of February :—During the month 210,000 feet of gas was manufactured, being at the rate of 7,500 feet per day. The amount of coke made was 10 tons, aud of tar 210 gallons. The coal used amounted to 20 tons. The gas sold to consumers amounted to 122,200 feet. The expenditure for the month amounted to ,£lx7 19s 3 d , made up of labour ,£49 18s 9d, coal, wharfage aud cartage ,£44 9s xod, and goods, etc., ,£23 xos 3d. The payments received for gas aud goods totalled ,£9l 19s nd, and there is still owing £34 5s 6d, which gives a total of £126 4s sd, and shows a credit balance for the mouth of 5s 2d.
