DOMINION’S DRINK BILL.
Christchurch, Feb, 2. Rev. Edward Walker’s estimate of the Drink Bill for the Dominion for 1910 is ,£3,803,438, or £3 13s i}\d per head. The calculation is based on the quantity passed through the Customs excise, and Mr Walker says that the retail rates bring the total up to £5,000,000. The bill per head dropped from £3 16s in 1885 to £2 19s BJzd in 1896, and rose to £3 15s rod in 1907, then dropped to £3 ns in 1909.
