SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
A very serious accident occurred last evening on the Petoue railway line. A man, aged about sixty years, whose identity could not be ascertained, andjwho was believed to have been trespassing on the line, was struck by the 9.25 train from Wellington and suffered very severe injuries. On examination it was found that the right leg and left foot had been cut off and that other grave injuries, both internal and external, had been inflicted. The doctor feared there was no hope of the man’s recovery.
