WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.
A meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery was held at Palmerston N. on Tuesday. The Rev J. B. Plall, moderator, presided, and there was a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs Aitken, Gordon and Mackie. A call from the Marton congregation to the Rev A. Porter, of Roxburgh, was sustained. The Rev Mr Doull reported that a call from the Levin congregation to the Rev A. C. Randersou was being signed. It was agreed to meet en hunc effectum on February 27th to deal with this call. The Rev R. Kerr, of Queensland, being present, was associated with the Presbytery. Mr Jas. Gumming, evangelist, was welcomed by the Presbytery, and the Rev J. Chisholm reported that the mission had been very successful in his parish. Leave was granted to St. Paul’s church, Wanganui, to lease the present church site and to borrow up to for erection of new church and other buildings. It was explained that the lease of the church frontage would provide interest and sinking fund on the loan. Other routine business was transacted and the meeting rose.
