The weather was beautiful for the opening day's racing of the Takapuna Kacrng Club’s summer meeting on Saturday The attendance was large and some interesting racing was witnessed there being some very close finishes. NOTES. Teotaue has been doing some satisfactory training since the local meeting, and the Daunt gelding will fill his Pahiatua engagements. The Geelong Cup, run at Melbourne on Saturday last resulted as follows; Crete 1, Whitewater 2, Shunae 3. These were the only starters. The well-known racehorse Lochbuie, who was badly injured some weeks ago, was in such a bad way that it was deemed advisable to destroy him, and the son of Cyrenian was shot on Friday last. Mr A. Wright, the local trainer, will have a useful team to represent his stable at the Pahiatua meeting. With Lord Soult, The Rover and Puketotara, the genial “Alf” should go near capturing some of the stake money. Mr J.
