BOWLING.
To-morrow afternoon will see the first challenge game played on the local green. Terrace End is sending a team here in quest ol the Manawatu Ferns, recently won from Levin. The visitors are expected to arrive at 2.30, and play will start soon alter, and a very keen game is anticipated. Afternoon tea will he kindly provided by the ladies. Last .Saturday’s game for the Club Feathers resulted in a runaway victory for the holders by 27 to 8. The following were the teams: — Hopper Petrie Hamer Whihley Stunnell Fraser Hennessy (s) 27 Stiles (s) 8 Two interesting matches have been played for the Fowls Competition : Speirs 17, beat Adams 15, and Hamer 21, beat Fraser 11. Players are reminded that to day is the last day for completion of the first round. Despite the dry weather the green is bolding up remarkably well, and reflects great credit on Mr Spring. It is strange that instead of a dozen members on the green of an evening one does not see thirty or forty.
