BOXING.

The fight for the heavy-weight championship of New Zealand between Bill Rudd and J. Blackmore, of New South Wales, took place at Hastings on Thursday night. After fighting for 2 min 55sec in the first round, Blackmore went down, and Rudd struck him. The referee intervened, and awarded the fight to Blackmore on a foul. At a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association Committee held at Hastings last night, it was decided to pay over the stake to Blackmore, and to disqualify Rudd for three months.
