BOWLING.

A local rink consisting of Messrs Woods, Mairs, Heunessy and Stiles (skip) journed to Palmerston N. 011 New Year’s Day, to compete in the Manawatu Junior Fours, for rink players of not more than three years standing. The trophy consists of four Ferns presented by Mr I 1). Toms, mainly with the idea of encouraging bowling among the young;er clubs in the Manawatu centre, but are open to all clubs for competition. Owing to a number of‘ local bowlers being away, the local club could only manage to send one rink. Rinks representing Terrace End, Pahiatna and Levin took part, and some very good bowling was witnessed. The competition was played on the Terrace Fmd green and the representatives of that club, namely Messrs W. Mundy, Sinclair, Solilt, and Martin vanished their opponents, Terrace Find defeated Foxton by 22 to 12 ; Pahiatna (26) defeated Levin (iS), Foxton (15), defeated Levin (14), Terrace End defeated Pahiatna. The \ isitors were very hospitably entertained and spent a most enjoyable time. Levin has issued a challenge to the winners for next Wednesday. Some very enjoyable games were played on the local green during the holidays.
