THE GAS WORKS.
REPORTS ON WORKING. At Monday night’s Council meeting the Town Clerk furnished the following reports on the working of the local gas works lor the months of October and November ;
October: The gas manufactured during the month was 220,000 feet, being 7,333/3 feet per day. The gas sold to consumers was 148,400 feet. Two hundred and twenty gallons of tar were made, which at five pence per gallon is worth £4. ns, and 11 tons of coke, worth /16 10s. On the working for the month there was a profit of ns sd, the receipts for gas supplied to consumers amounting to £7B os id, and the expenditure to £3O lis 6d, made up of coal used The expenditure on the plant and fittings account amounted to 2s Bd, and the receipts totalled £S 4s 6d. Two new services were put in during the month. November: The gas manufactured was 200,000 feet, being 6666/3 feet per day. The gas sold to consumers was 131,400 feet, 191 gallons of tar, valued at £3 19s yd, and 10 tons of coke, worth were made. On the working for the month there was a profit of £6 15s 6d, the receipts for gas supplied amounting to 15s 6d, and the expenditure totalled made up of coal ss, and wages £3l 15s. The expenditure on plant and fittings account was £53 is lod, and the receipts £5 4s 6d. The arrears for gas supplied amount to £3 6s 3d. During the month four new services were put in.
