“SWEETHEARTS.”
A TALK WITH YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN AT SHANNON. [CONTRIBUTED.] On Tuesday, a full room and an expectant audience evidenced a local interest in this topic, which lias attracted many other young people in various parts of the Dominion. Sister Moody Bell, ol Shannon, in the introduction of her subject, took the audience into her confidence by explaining how and when she was first introduced to commence these popular talks on such important topics. She was greeted with encouraging applause in beginning her lecture, and throughout, from time to time, the agreement of the hearers with the opinions she advanced was notified by evident approval. As there were present a good number of young men and women, with older friends, the remarks addressed to each side of the house were carefully adjusted, so as to keep the balance true and be “lair all round.” The speaker’s many and varied points were illustrated and enforced by incidents from real life and character; mistakes were pointed out, and good wholesome advice given. Over and over again there was a hearty laugh, and it is hoped that the young “sweethearts” will remember the lecture. Probably much of it will be discussed in private social conversation. Thorough appreciation has been expressed by the audience, and it Is intended to follow up, as opportunity is afforded, these “talks” in this locality.
