SAVING A COMRADE.

Perth, Nov. 24. Another instance of a man’s bravery in aiding a companion in difficulties was recorded to-day. Two men, Brown and Young, were firing shots in the 300 feet level of the Senate mine. One charge went off before Brown reached the ladder, and a piece of rock struck and injured him. Young jumped from the ladder, and was assisting his wounded companion to climb, when a second shot exploded. Flying fragments of stone injured Young’s hip, but in spite of his own hurts he persevered until he had placed Brown in safety. Young’s task was rendered all the more perilous owing to a running fusillade of rock splinters, thirteen more shots exploding beneath the men as they were on the ladder.
