CRICKET.
The first Association match in the first round of competitions for the Austin Challenge Shield will be played in Victoria Park tomorrow. Play commences at 2 o’clock sharp. The Foxton team will be selected from the following players:—W. Bullard, W. Clingberg, L. Howe, W. Howe, J. F.vans, G. Dunn, W. Love, H. Mnnro, R. McMurray, H. Osboldslone, A. Preston, P. T. Robinson, T. Ward, and R. Watson. The rival team are the Himataugis. At Sydney on Saturday, the weather was perfect for the continuation of the cricket match South Africa v. Australia, and the attendance reached 20,000. New South Wales in their first innings scored 287, and South Africa 300. In their second innings South Africa has lost 6 wickets for 139. The principal scorers for New South Wales were: Bardsley 70, Trumpet 70, Kelleway 37, Folkard 28, Macartney 23, Carter 19, Iv. L. Waddy 15 ; and for South Africa : Strieker 38, Zulch 29, Snooke 19, and Pearce not out 19.
