WEDDING BELLS.
KAY—FURRIE. A very quiet wedding was celebrated in the Presbyterian Church at 8.15. this morning by the Rev. G- K. Aitken, the contracting parties were Mr John Kay, eldest son of Mr John Kay, of Nelson, and Miss Jessie Furrie, only daughter of Mrs C. V, Furrie, of Foxton. Owing to the recent sad bereavement in the bride’s family, the usual decorations and festivities were abandoned. The bridal party were motored to the church by Mr Gibbs. Despite the early hour there was a fair attendance of the bride’s friends and wellwishers present to witness the solemn service. The bride entered the church escorted by her brother, Mr James Furrie, and was accompanied by Miss Kay as bridesmaid. Mr McCall officiated as best man. After the hymn, “ The Voice that Breathed O’er Eden,” had been sung, the minister performed the ceremony, and read certain appropriate portions of Scripture and briefly addressed the couple. As the party left the church, the “Wedding March” was played by Mrs Wrigley. The bride was attired in a costume of coteline wedgewood blue, silk braided, and wore.a fancy crimoline straw hat, trimmed with silk ribbon and ostrich feathers. Miss Kay was attired in white embroidered. muslin empire gown and black crimoline hat. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold watch and chain, and to the bridesmaid a gold necklet and pendant. The bridal party had to proceed through an avenue of rice pelters and well wishers before reaching the car, and w ere finally driven to the railway station. The honeymoon is to be spent in Auckland and Nelson, after which Mr and Mrs Kay will take up their residence in Inglewood, to which railway station Mr Kay has been transferred.
The handsome and numerous presents testified to the popularity of the bride and bridegroom. The Herald tenders its best wishes to Mr and Mrs Kay.
