Duck Creek : I have taken a series of levels over the low lying lands flooded by the river, and find that the Board’s main drain will afford sufficient outlet, and therefore recommend that the proposed embankment be carried across Duck Creek. In this work I have to acknowledge the kindness of the Chairman of the Board in accompanying me to the ground, and the suggestions make by him as to the course of the embankment. I will have the plans ready by next Friday so that a special meeting of the Board can he convened for that evening. Dredge ; The total number of days worked since the last meeting of the Board was and the rate of progress per hour was 1.3 yards which is slightly under the rate worked for the last month. This may be accounted for by one man being laid up. I have also to report several breakages to the grab, and I intend to interview the agents at once with a view to ordering from England a duplicate part. Before doing so I will acquaint you with the result of the information I will get from them.”

It was decided to hold a special meeting on Friday next, to consider the engineer’s plans. The Board rose at 8.40 p.m.
