WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.

[By Telegraph—Special to Herald.] Wanganui, This Day. The ordinary meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last night. Present: —Messrs Pirani (chairman), Aldridge, Bennett, Dixon, Fraser, O’Dea, Purnell and Spurdle. Resignations: —A. A. Andrews, Sedgbrook; A. M. Anthony, Kanhatea. Eeave of absence was granted to eleven teachers on account of illness and twenty-two to attend examinations. It was decided to shift Taikorea school residence during the Christmas holiday^. The Truant Inspector is getting to work, having summoned thirty parents at Rangataua for irregular attendance of their children. The erection of the new technical school in Wanganui occupied a great deal of the Board’s time. After considerable discussion it was finally decided that the Chairnan, Mr D. H. Guthrie, M.P., imd Mr Bathle, architect, should wait on the Government and submit for approval the two lowest of nine tenders. The school will cost about ,£IO,OOO. Accounts passed for payment were, Education Board ,£289 13s lod, girls college ,£696 14s rod. The next meeting of the Board will be held on the 7th of February, when the new Assembly Hall at the girls college will be opened and a farewell tendered to Miss Fraser, the retiring lady principal.
