Capetown, Nov. 2

Reuter states that the Duke and Duchess of Connaught have had a heavy list of engagements today. In the morning the Duke received addresses at the City Hall from the Masonic brethren of the Constitutions of England, Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands; also from the South Africa Grand Eodges. The Duke of Connaught referred to the common brotherhood oi freemasons of every nationality under all circumstances. It was most satisfactory to learn that the lodges of South Africa were prospering. Messrs Fisher, Fowlds and Eemieux dine to-night at Government House to meet the Duke and Duchess of Connaught. The Duke of Connaught, in an investiture at Government House to-night, conferred the Grand Cross of the order of St. Michael and St. George on Viscount Gladstone, Governor - General ; the Grand Cross of the Victorian Order on Eord Methuen, General Officer Commanding -in - Chief, South Africa ; and Knight of St. Michael and St. George on Mr Ernest Kilpin, Secretary of the National Convention.
