WEBB v. PEARCE.
MATCH BEING ARRANGED. Wanganui, October 26. Word has been received that George Day will accompany Harry Pearce, the Australian champion sculler to New Zealand, to act as trainer and pacer for Pearce during his training for the race with W. Webb on Boxing Day. The details in connection with the race have not yet been definitely arranged, but probably everything will be fixed up to-morrow, when Webb’s backers and Mr Seifert, who is finding the money for Pearce, will meet at Palmerston North to discuss details. The only point about which there is likely to be any difference is the amount to be allowed Webb in the event of the latter losing. Pearce wants ,£SO if he loses and Webb’s friends claim that a similar amount should be allowed the Wanganui man in the event of Pearce winning. This question should be amicably arranged, as both parties are anxious to see the match eventuate.
