CATHOLIC SOCIAL.
The last of tbe series of euchre party and dance evenings held under the auspices of the Catholic Church, was held in the Public Hall last night. Tbe attendance was not quite so large as at the preceding socials, only nineteen tables being in use for progressive euchre, but those present displayed the usual zest and interest in the card tournament, and the function was thoroughly successful socially and financially. The alloting of the prizes disclosed the winners of the most games to be Mrs Perreau and Mr T. Ward, and the “booby” prizes to Miss K. Spelman and Mr C. Smith. The ladies of the Catholic congregation again supplied a plentiful and tasty supper, which was much appreciated. Dancing was indulged in after supper, a good many couples occupying the floor. The music was again supplied by Miss K. Spelman, assisted by Mr Golder (cornet). Extras were kindly contributed by Miss Eileen Eenihan (3) Miss A. Neylon, and Miss N. Neylon. The duties of M’s.C. were efficiently carried out by Messrs J. Gillies and S. Dudson.
The energetic secretaries, Messrs W. Spelman and S. Hudson, were again untiring in their efforts for the welfare of the social, and were rewarded by the sociability and financial results of the function. Much appreciation is due to Miss K. Spelman for supplying the music free, and also Mr Golder for his assistance with the cornet. Thanks is also due to the lady members of the congregation for providing the supper, and to all those who in any way assisted towards the success of the social.
