Coley, and the Secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Keith reported the result of the conference of country clubs held in Wellington, on October 21st, to consider the Gaming Act, He said the gathering was representative of country clubs throughout the Dominion and the following resolution was passed by the Conference : —‘‘That this meeting of representatives of country clubs throughout New Zealand is unanimously of opinion that the reduction of totalisator permits as provided by clause 5 of the Gaming Act Amendment Bill is not only opposed to the best interests of racing clubs, but is unjustified, as although the population of the Dominion has largely increased, and the new districts have been opened up and rapidly settled upon during the last ten years, the number of totalisator permits during the same period has been materially reduced, and we therefore urge that uo further reduction in the number of permits be made.” It was decided to ask Mr Newman, M.P. to support the resolution from his place in the House. Mr H. G. Hammond, Hlmatangi, was elected a steward of the Club in place of Mr W. Gray who was recently appointed secretary. Mr E. Ball was appointed clerk ot scales. Mr Hunt proposed and Mr Coley seconded that the programme of 1910 without any reduction of stakes, be adopted for the coming race meeting, with the exception that the distance ol the hurdle race on the second day be reduced to i l /t miles. —Carried.
