OBITUARY.
PRINCE FRANCIS OF TECK
London, October 22
Prince Francis of Teck died this morning. He had passed a most restful day yesterday, but during the night he sank. Death was due to septicaemia, following upon the recent operation lor the removal of a pleuritic effusion. King George, Queen Mary (sister of Prince Francis), and other members ot the Royal Family were present at the deathbed, Prince F'rancis was an unobtrusive man, and very popular in the Army. The funeral will take place at Windsor on Saturday.
Prince Francis Joseph Leopold Frederick of Teck was born at Kensington Palace oh January qth 1870. He was the son of the late Duke of Teck and H.R.H. the late Princess Mary Adelaide. He was educated at the Wellington College and the Royal Militarj' College, at Sandhurst. He entered the Army in 1890, and was A.D.C. to the officer commanding at Quetta in 1896-97. He served in the Egyptian Army in 1897-98, receiving the medal with clasps. For his services in the South African war in 1899 and 1900 he was mentioned in despatches, made brevet-major, and received the Queen’s medal with three clasps, and the D.S.O. He retired with the rank ot major in the Ist Dragoons in 1902. The deceased was a Knight of Justice of St. John of Jerusalem.
