TOWN PLANNING CONFERENCE.

London, October 16,

Lord Kitchener, presiding at the Town Planning Conference, referred to the wonderful reconstruction of the city of Khartoum. He added that much would be heard of Australia’s Federal capital. He had visited the splendid cities of Sydney and Melbourne, and rather regretted that it was necessary to find another abode for the Commonwealth Parliament. The new capital would start with great advantages, and he hoped it would afford an example as to the principles which the Conference was advocating.

Mr J. Sulman, the well-known Sydney architect, sent a paper on Australia’s new capital to the Conference.
