The second reading of the Water Power Work’s Bill has been read a second time. Following are the works proposed to be started with the ,£500,000 to be raised by the Bill: Kaituna, 10,000 h.p. to cost extending over two years. To supply Auckland province trom Auckland South. North of Auckland would probably be dealt with subsequently from Wairoa Falls, 6000 h.p. to cost ,£IOO,OOO. Akatarawa, at the Hutt, 10,000 h.p. ,£300,000. Transmission to Wellington 24 miles, land already secured. Supplies Hutt, Petone, Johnsonville, Wellington, etc. Makuri, 6000 h.p., ,£200,000, serving Palmerston, Masterton, Woodville, Pahiatua, Feilding, Bevin and intermediate towns. Bake Coleridge, 10.000 h.p. transmission to Christchurch. Will serve all Canterbury, and electrify Byttelton railway tunnel. Teviot, 10,000 h.p., ,£300,000. All Otago towns. Bake Hauroto, 10,000 h.p., ,£350,000. All Southland towns. West Coast, 3000 h.p., ,£75,000.
