PORTUGUESE REVOLUTION.

The Republican Government promises to settle by force the labour question in the San Thome cocoa plantations with absolute freedom and justice to the natives. Government has ordered the enforcement of the law relating to free recruitment and repatriation of the natives to the mainland.
Switzerland has recognised the Portuguese Republic.
Senhor Telles, Minister for Finance, states that the Portuguese Government does not desire to destroy religious sentiment, but only desires to compel the priests to confine themselves to spiritual matters. Independent schools will be permitted if the teachers are approved by the State. President Bragar says that no Republican Ministry will consent to part with an inch of territory or lease it to a foreign Power. Rocal autonomy will be established in the Colonies.
No pension or allowance will be paid to King Manuel. His personal property will be respected, but the Royal Debt of ,£700,000 will be deducted from its value.
The preparations for convoking the National Assembly will take five months.
