PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting of the district committee of the Foxton Presbyterian Church was held at Foxtou yesterday. Present ; Messrs Matheson, Rolands and Richardson (Tlakitahuna), Amon, Farmer and Costall (GleuOroua), Wilton (Oroua Bridge), Alex. Speirs, Gibbs, Henderson, Hornblow and Parkes (Foxtou). The moderator, Rev G. K. Aitkeu, presided. A meeting of session was held prior to the general meeting when the report for the year touching the spiritual life of the church was presented and adopted and considered very satisfactory. —A letter was read from the Presbytery, asking that the Rev Mr Aitkeu be allowed to conduct a series of services on behalf of the Maori Mission and it was decided to release Mr Aitken for a fortnight ior this purpose.—An exchange between the Rev Mr Patterson, of Waipawa, and the Rev Mr Aitken for January was sanctioned. At the meeting of managers the treasurer (Mr Gibbs) submitted the quarterly statement, which showed an increase in receipts over the last quarter. All accounts were passed for payment. A sub-committee reported having purchased an extra horse for the minister’s use. It was decided to hold over the election of office bearers till the next quartely meeting, to be held at Glen Oroua. A letter was received from the Chairman of the Church Trustees, notifying that in future the rent from the church section in Rongotea will be paid to the credit of the Foxton charge, who will control same. Other matters of minor importance were discussed and the meeting rose.
