HIMATANGI HOCKEY CLUB’S BALL.

The long looked for event, the Himataugi Ladies’ Hockey Club Ball, held on Friday night last, was a pronounced success. A full force of the Hockey Club members were present in fancy dress, also some outsiders, Miss Meads (captain) bearing the Club’s colours (old gold). The ladies, assisted by Mr Christensen, spent much time and pains in decorating the hall with greenery and drapings for the occasion. The music was supplied by Conlan’s band in a most competent manner, assisted by Mr Christensen. The duties of M.C. were most efficiently carried out by Mr Christensen. About 32 couples occupied the floor for the Grand March, the ladies iu fancy dress giving it a fine effect. The following is a list of some of the dresses : —Miss Witton, “ Ireland ” ; Miss M. Robertson, “Maori”; Miss Small, “ Queen of Hearts ” ; Miss A. Hartley, “ Housemaid ” ; Miss Ivy Hartley, “Romp”; Miss Halcrou, “ Gipsy Maiden ” ; Miss A. Conlan, “ Queen of Hearts ” ; Miss Philps, ‘ ‘ School Girl ’ ’ ; Miss C. Moffatt, “Fisher Girl” ; Miss Mailed, “Queen of Hearts”; Miss B. Robertson, “Red, White and Blue”; Miss M. Hartley, “Red Riding Hood”; Miss A. Topee, “Japanese Lady”; Miss C. Conlan, “ Snowball ” ; Miss H. Brady, “ Gipsy Queen ” ; Miss K. Conlan, “Daughter of Erin”; Miss V. Moffatt, “ Sweet aud Low.” The gentlemen iu fancy costume were: Mr C. Conlan, “ Father Christmas ” ; Mr Christensen, “ Pierott ” ; Mr G. Davey, “ Drum Major.” A tasty supper was provided by the ladies. Miss Brady, on behalf of the Club, moved a vote of thanks to all present for their attendance. The dance concluded in the small hours of the morning, after a most enjoyable gathering. Much credit is due to Miss Brady (secretary) for the competent manner in which she carried out her duties.
