FOXTON ATHLETIC CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The animal general meeting of the Foxton Athletic Club was held in the Council Chamber last night. The president (Dr. Adams) occupied the chair, and there was a very satisfactory attendance of members. The annual report and balancesheet was read and adopted. This showed that the year’s working had resulted in a financial loss, due to a large extent to a serious loss on the special train from Feildiug, a considerable falling off in the gate receipts and donations. The year commenced with a credit balance of £l2 13s 5d and with this amount the receipts totalled which were ; Nominations aud acceptances, Z’32 14s 6d ; gate receipts, £23 7s ; donations £l2 is; and members subscriptions, £l2. The expenditure totalled ,£125 12s rod, thus leaving a debit balance of 17s sd. The chief items of expenditure were prize money, 3s; train guarantee, ,£27; printing and advertising, ,£l7 4s 6d ; and Band, £b. There is still a small amount owing, but on the other side there is also money to be collected. The statement of assets and liabilities show a balance on the right side. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— Patron, Edward Newman, Esq., M.P. ; president, Dr Adams ; vicepresidents, Messrs G. H. Stiles, W. G. Richardson, B. G. Gower, Dr. Mandl, O. Robinson, J. K. Hornblow, F. Martin, E. Ball, W. Ross, J. T. Levett, H. Greig aud H. S. Muuro; secretary, Mr F. D. Whibley; treasurer, Mr E. Healey; committee, Messrs R. Baker, A. H. Boyes, P. T. Robinson, F. Woods, A. J. Imrie, A. McCall, J. Desmond, R. McMurray, J. W. Furrie, G. S. Fowler, M. Sweeney and K. H. Furrie ; judges, Messrs H. Witchell, W. E. Barber, M. H. Walker, C. 11. Collins, A. J. Gibbs, A. King, A. Speirs and P. Lumsdeu , auditors, Messrs P. G. Jackson and A. J. Kellow; starter, Mr E. K, Smith; assistant starter, Mr H. Witchell; timekeepers, Messrs R. M. Parkes and John Golder ; handicapper, Mr J. CollingwoodMr Ball brought up the question of the position of the guarantors in connection with the gaslight sports. At the present time there was no likelihood of being able to repay the money so guaranteed, and it was decided that the secretary interview the guarantors and point out the position. In the room the names ot fifteen of the guarantors were handed in who did not want their money back, aud it was considered that a large percentage of the remaining sixteen would also be willing to fall into line. The question of the date of the annual sports gathering was discussed at some length, and it was eventually decided to hold the meeting this year on. New Year’s Day. Other minor matters were discussed, aud the meeting terminated.
