PRESENTATION.

After the arrival of the evening train from Palmerston on Friday night, the clerical staff, representatives of the permanent way and engineering departments connected witn the local railway, assembled at the station to bid farewell to Mr Rodie, who has been transferred to Wanganui. On behalf of those assembled, Mr T. Henderson presented Mr Rodie with a case of silver-mounted pipes, silver matchbox, and a set of sleeve links. Mr Henderson referred to the good feeling that had existed between the various departments represented and Mr Rodie as stationmaster during his seven years as stationmaster, and, while regretting his departure, he wished the recipient, his wife and family, health and prosperity in their new home. Mr Rodie suitably responded. He had not had much time to devote to social matters, and had therefore not the opportunity of coming into touch with them as he should have liked. An adjournment was made to Whyte's Hotel, where the health of Mr and Mrs Rodie was drunk. Songs were contributed by Messrs Bowden, Poad and Henderson. A very pleasant gathering terminated by singing “ Auld I,ang Syne.”
