The third of the series of socials under the auspices of the local Catholic Church was held in the Public Hall last night, and like the previous ones, was a pronounced success from every point of view. The first part of the evening was taken up by progressive euchre, 24 tables being occupied. The prizes were won by Miss R. Dudsou and Mr F. Davis, and Mrs Young and Mr C. Green were successful in carrying off the “boobies,” At the conclusion of the euchre tournament refreshments provided by the lady members of the Church, were handed round and done full justice to- The hall was then cleared for dancing and about 60 couples tripped lighty to music supplied by Miss K. Spelman. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr. J. Gillies. Extras were played by Misses Jenks and Reeve and Messrs Kiug (piano) and Robinson (violin). During the evening Mr A. Preston contributed two songs which were greatly appreciated. In a great measure the success of the function was due to the work of the energetic joint secretaries, Messrs W. Spelman and S. Dudson, who were indefatigable in their efforts, and the thanks of those responsible for the affair is due to these gentlemen for their good work. The committee also desire to thank the ladies who kindly supplied the refreshments and all those who in any way assisted to make the function so successful.
