A MASTERTON SUICIDE.

A pathetic suicide occurred here during last night. The body of Miss Maud Bunny, aged about forty years, was found in the lake at Tansdovvne this morning. Deceased disappeared yesterday afternoon. Search was made for her but without success till this morning, when the body was found in the lake at 4.30 o'clock. Yesterday deceased left a parcel at Mrs Oliver Smith’s, at Lansdowne, asking the latter to deliver it at 7 p.m. to a neighbour. She went away in a hurry, saying there were visitors in the house. Deceased left three letters —one for Oliver Bunny, her brother, one for Mrs Jessie Hirschberg, and one for a Mr Williams. At the inquest, Oliver Bunny said deceased had been despondent since her engagement was broken off, nine mouths ago. Several times she had talked of committing suicide, as she could bear it no longer, and yesterday she had complained of having had a severe headache for weeks. Deceased had left a letter addressed to Mr Williams of Gleudouald, in which she stated she intended to commit suicide, and stated where her body would be found. The. jury returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide while temporarily insane.
