SKATING.
The attention of skaters is directed to a slight change in the programme of events for next Wednesday’s carnival. It has been decided to reserve the Egg and Spoon Race for ladies in preference to the Fan and Balloon Race, on account of the latter race being somewhat difficult, and the gentlemen will thus exchange events with the ladies. Entries for all competitions close at the rink on Monday night next. Considerable enthusiasm is being shown over the coming carnival, and some little excitement and anticipation is evinced among rinkers as to the respective fancy attire to be worn. There seems little doubt that a good percentage of skaters will be attired in fancy costume on the night of the event, and rumour has it that some most original and striking characters will be represented. Arrangements are to be made for the accommodation of the public on the stage, and everything points to the carnival being a success.
