HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the above was held last night. Present; Messrs Alex Speirs (chairman), Galland and Patterson (secretary), Mesdames Greig, Stewart, Jenks, Galland and Misses Ross, Speirs and Neylon. The following stewards were appointed : —Pot plants and cut blooms, Mesdames Greig, Boyes and Adams ; fruit and vegetables, Messrs Woods, Bullard and Woodroofe ; dairy produce, Mr J. Whyte; cookery and home industries, Mrs Kempster and Miss Neylon; decorative, Mrs C. Robinson and Miss Symons ; fancy work, Mesdames Collins, Galland aud Miss Signal (fancy work, cookery aud home industries to be divided off); photography and miscellaneous, Mrs Witchell; children’s class Mesdames Barber (2) and Bock. The following judges were appointed, subject to their acceptance : —Pot plants and cut blooms, fruit and vegetables and dairy produce, Mr Taylor (Levin); cookery aud home industries, Mrs J. A. Nash (Palmerston N); decorative, fancy work and miscellaneous, Mrs Selby (Shannon); writing, drawing and mapping, Mr Stewart; decorative tables, Mesdames Nash, Selby and Mr Taylor. The tea-room arrangements are to be left in the hands of Mesdames Stewart, Jenks, and Misses Ross, Speirs and Rough; sweet stall, Mesdames Gower and Healey ; competitions, Mesdames Greig, Boyes, and Mr Galland. It was decided to write Messrs Horton and Wighton re flower stand, and to allow Mr A. Jonson space for flower table, also Mr Walsh. It was decided to ask Mr Betty’s orchestra to contribute musical items on show nights.
