Localities along the Main Trunk Line are taking an interest in the question of extending the FoxtonSaudon tramway from Pukenui to Greatford. The Mangaweka Town Board, through Mr Smith, sent a petition to the House on Tuesday, urging the extension to Greatford by the Public Works Department. The length of the extension is stated to be only five miles. It is stated on reliable authority that the expenditure by the Department would be more than justified. In any case it would be a move in the direction of linking up the Main Trunk line between Levin and Greatford, which has to be faced by the Government sooner or later.
