HOTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the committee of the above Society was held in the Council Chamber last night. Present: —Messrs Alex Speirs (chairman), Kempster, Woods, Galland, Patterson, and Wynd, Mesdames Stewart, Greig, Adams, Jenks, Collins, Misses Neylon, Ross, Rough, Speirs, and the secretary (Mr Levett). After discussion it was decided to have separate catalogues printed for the spring and autumn shows. Dr. Mandl, Messrs Stiles, Stewart, Rough, and B. G. Gower were elected vice-presidents. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Galland, Wynd, Woods, and Mesdames Collins, Greig and Stewart were appointed a subcommittee to draw up the catalogue for the spring show. It was decided that the sub-com-mittee meet tor this purpose next Monday. It was decided that no advertisements be inserted in the spring catalogues. Misses Ross, Rough, Neylon and Speirs were appointed a committee to canvass for donations and special prizes. The president, Mr A. Speirs, donated £1 is for the best cottage garden, to be competed for on the same conditions as on previous occasions. Mr H. Greig also made a donation of £1 is towards the funds of the Association. The secretary, Mr J. T. Levett, handed in his resignation, which was accepted with regret. The appointment of his successor was held over until next meeting. Other routine business was transacted, and the meeting terminated.
