FOOTBALL.
The Manawatu Schools reps, play Wanganui next Saturday. There will be two teams. The local school is represented by Fraser (three-quarter) in the “ A ” team, and Baker (half) in the “B” team, while Robins m is selected as an emergency. The Awahou Club has entered a protest against last Saturday’s Albiou-Awahou match being counted a draw, and claim that the match should be counted as a win for Awahou on the grounds (x) that the referee disallowed a try scored by E. Hudson, and (2) that the Albion Club played G. Dunn in contraveuti m of title 9, Manawatu Club contest rules. A meeting ot the Sub-Union Executive will be held on Saturday night to deal with the matter. Two of the players—Furrie and Robinson —selected in the rep. team to play Horowhenua on Saturday have notified the secretary that they will be unable to play, and their places will therefore be filled by E- Perewhiti and Franklaud. The local reps, will play in the Awahou colours on Saturday. Any Awahou player not taking part in the game, willing to lend his jersey would oblige by handing same to the secretary of their club, Mr Wanklyn. The Horowhenua reps, will arrive by coach on Saturday at about half-past two, and the match* will commence at 3 p.m. Admission to the ground will be one shilling, ladies free. After the match the two teams and visitors from the Horowhenua Union will be entertained at dinner at the Family Hotel. At Palmerston North yesterday Hawke’s Bay defeated Manawatu by 20 points to 9.
