MAGISTRATES COURT
The monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held before Mr A, D. Thomson, S.M., yester day morning. UNDEFENDED UST. Judgment for plantiffs was entered up in the following undefended civil cases : —G. Wright v. R. Dalhousie, claim £i 18s 6d, costs 15s; same v. D. Webb, £3 10s 6d, cost 5s ; J. Jillett v. L,. W. Wilson, £j 4s, costs 25s 6d ; Easton and Co. v. Chas. Hawkins, £3 2s 2d, costs 1 os; same v. Wilson and Hawkins ,£2l is id, costs £2 16s. In the judgment summons George Reay v. H, J. Cornwall, the judgment debtor was examined as to his earnings since judgment was obtained, in March last, after hearing which the magistrate refused to make an order. defended cases. E. Ball proceeded against James Coley to recover the sum of £4 gs 6d, alleged to be due for goods etc., supplied. Plaintiff produced his books showing the statement of accounts and gave evidence to the effect that statements showing the position had been periodically rendered to defendant, who never disputed them. The defendant denied that the amount claimed was owing, hut admitted that he might owe from 30s to £2. The Magistrate entered up judgment for the amount claimed with costs £1 12s. Easton and Co. sought to recover the sum of £4 16s, from Edward Barnes for meat supplied. Evidence for plaintiff was to the effect that the meat was delivered to defendant who made no complaints as to quality. The defendant on the other hand stated that certain meat delivered was not fit for human consumption and had to be thrown out. After hearing the evidence judgment was entered up for plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs £2.
