BOXING.

The New Zealand Boxing Championship competitions were concluded at Palmerston North on Thursday evening, when some scientific displays were seen. G. Watchorn of Manawatu, a clever boxer who has been a prominent figure in the ring for several seasons past, won the welter championship. B. Ellis, of Wellington, proved himself bantam champion ; F. Kerr, of Nelson, the featherweight champion, Simpson, of Christchurch, the lightweight champion; G. Matthewson, of Otago, the middleweight champion, and A. Pooley, ot Auckland, the heavyweight champion.

The following team has been chosen to represent New Zealand at the Australasian championship meeting at Auckland in September :

Bantam, Ellis (Wellington). Featherweight, Heggarty (Timaru), Kerr ; emergency, Shields (Manawatu), Eightweight, Simpson (Christchurch); emergency, Thomas (Manawatu). Welter, Watchorn (Manawatu). Middle, Matthewson (Otago) ; emergency, Eister (Timaru). Heavy, Pooley (Auckland) ; emergency, Rustin (Otago).
