FOOTBALL.

The return match between teams representing the local school and the Levin District High School was played on the racecourse this morning, and resulted in a win for the visitors by nine points to six after a good game. The Levin boys were the heavier team, but did not use their weight to its full advantage. The first spell was very evenly contested, play hovering about the centre of the field for the most part. About the middle of the spell Gardener (Levin) scored from a scramble, but the kick at goal failed. From this out to the end of the spell the locals livened up and took play into Levin’s twenty-five, where Fraser (Foxton) kicked a goal from a penalty. The second spell was more in favour of the visitors who scored two more tries and were unlucky not to score a third. Neither of the tries were converted. Fraser (FoxtoiD also scored a try which was not converted and the game ended with the score Levin 9, Foxton 6. Mr P. T. Robinson refereed.
