SKATING.

A special programme has been arranged for Monday evening next at the local skating rink which should attract not only a large number of skaters but the general public as well. The programme of competitors is published elsewhere in this issue and includes exhibition of fancy skating with a prize tor the best lady skater who has learnt in the Foxton rink. There will be hurdle racing, musical, chairs, and potato race for gentlemen, also a tug-of-war. Gentlemen will be charged an entrance fee of 6d in each event, ladies free.
