MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the Board’s office last night. Present ; —Messrs B, G. Gower (chairman), W. S. Carter, H. G. Hammond and F. S. Easton. An apology for absence was received from Mr O. R. Robinson.

The Clerk reported the amount to credit of loan account, exclusive of on fixed deposit, was count 13s Bd. Since last meeting the sum of £22 7s yd had been received on account of rates and placed to credit, and payment of wages ,£lB 14s id was made on the Bth instant.

A communication was read from the State Guaranteed Advances Offices, advising that the loan of being ten per cent additional on original loan, had been provisionally approved. —-The Clerk was instructed to reply to the effect that the money would not be required until December 1911, but if the interest is to be computed from the date the loan is finally approved the money will be lifted at once'. In the latter case the Board intends placing the money on fixed deposit until it is required. The balance sheet for the year ended March 31st, 1910, was received back from the Audit Office duly certified to and minus “tags.” Accounts amounting to 8s 2d were passed for payment against general account and 5s rod against loan account. The term of engagement of the new crane driver were discussed, and it was eventually decided to confirm the engagement at 11s 6d per day, days worked only to be paid for. The question of the amount to be charged to the top end for engineering expenses was discussed and it was decided that the sum of £SO be charged. There was no report from the engineer on account of the flood, very little work had been done since the last meeting. The Board rose at 9.10 p.m.
