CORRESPONDENCE.

[to the editor.) Sir. —Kindly allow me a space in your valuable columns in which to make your report on Thursday’s meeting of the Amateur Dramatic Society a little clearer to the public. I would like to state that the reason why the motion to play “The Pickpocket,” iu aid of the school ground improvement fund, was rescinded, was because the majoiity of the members considered, among other reasons, that “Kleptomania,” a new piece already in rehearsal, would secure a better house tor the school fund than “The Pickpocket,” which has previously been staged here. Owing to the sudden termination of the meeting this proposal was not brought forward, but will be done so at our next meeting. I should also like to add that the personalities you mentioned had nothing whatever to do with the rescinding of the motion. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., A Member of the Dramatic Society.

Foxton, June 28th, 1910, [We regret to learn that a small rupture has taken place among members of our deserving

dramatic society, and we hope it will not lead to a break up. Thisstep would be regrettable. In all such societies little differences of opir.ion arise among members and our local society is no exception to the rule. We hope wise counsels will prevail to heal what we believe to be only a temporary breach. —Ed.H.]
