ACCOUNTANT AND INSOMNIA.
Christchurch, May 13. Mr A. F. Nicholls, assistant accountant with the legal firm of Duncan, Cotterill, and Stringer, was found in his bedroom at his home about 11.30 this morning, shot through the heart. A pea rifle was near the body, the position of which appeared to indicate that Mr Nicholl had held the rifle to his heart and had operated the trigger with one of his toes. On arrival of a medical man it was found that life was extinct. For some months past Nicholl had been suffering from insomnia, aud towards the end of last year, owing to illness, which was due to the same cause, he was off duty for a month. Recently he was further troubled with sleeplessness, and it was stated that he was unable to sleep for the last ten or fourteen days-
At the inquest a verdict was returned that deceased committed suicide whilst temporarily insane.
