FREEMASONRY.
The annual communication oi the New Zealand Grand Lodge was held in the Wellington Town Hall on Wednesday and Thursday last. The local lodge was represented by Wor. Bro. Hornblow. Owing to indisposition, M.W. Bro. Lord Plunket did not attend and the proceedings were presided over by R. Wor. Bro. Oliver Nicholson, G.M. At the installation of M.W. Bro. Griffiths as G.M., over two thousand brethren were present. The large hall was festooned In purple aud black and all the brethren wore badges ot mourning on their regalia as a mark ot respect to the memory of their Royal Brother, the late King. All the social functions that accompany such gatherings —and on this occasion they were to be on a magnificent scale — were abandoned. Messages of sympathy were dispatched to the Queen Mother and King and suitable acknowledgements received. All lodges are to go into mourning for a period of three mouths. The new Prov. G.M. for the Wellington province is R. Wor. Bio. J. A. Moucrieff, of Carterton.
