PHIL. WALSH DRAMATIC COMPANY.
The well-known Phil-Walsh Dramatic Company were greeted by large and appreciative audiences at their entertainments at the Public Hall, on Saturday and Monday nights. On Saturday night "The Drunkard’s Daughter/' founded on Robertson’s great comedy-drama, "Caste,” was staged, and was well received by the large audience. "A Californian Romance,” a beautiful American drama, written by Mr Phil. Walsh, and depicting real western life in California in 1849, was produced last night. This is undoubtedly one of the best pieces yet played by the company. and the manner in which it was received by the large audience was ample proof that it was greatly appreciated. As Professor Cameron, the popular actormanager was most successful, and Miss Eva Marius Paigne, as Winifred MacGregor, took the heroine’s part in her usual finished style. All the other parts were also capably filled by the other members of the company. At the conclusion of the play, Mr Walsh stated that a return visit would be paid to Foxton on Friday, May 13th,, when "Drink,” or " Ten Nights in a Bar-room,” will be staged.
