FOXTON RACING CLUB.
A meeting of stewards of the Foxton Racing Club was held in Club’s office on Thursday night. Present —Messrs Barber (chairman), Howan, Ball, Gray, Jenks, Rimmer, Robinson, Coley, Hunt, Dr. Mandl and the secretary.
The secretary reported that the club’s finances disclosed a very healthy state of affair, it being in a far better position financially than it has been for years. The secretary to the conference wrote advising that the annual meeting would be held in July, and asking that, should the club desire any matter to be brought forward at that meeting, notice should be given at once. Mr Ball expressed the opinion that all horses competing in any event should weigh-in at the conclusion of the race, and that the club should bring the matter before the conference. It was pointed out, however, that the Manawatu Club was moving in this connection and the matter was allowed to drop.
It was decided to hold the annual race meeting on Saturday and Monday, January 21 and 23, and the secretary was instructed to apply for totalisator permits for those days. The Mounted Rifle Corps in Palmerston, made application for the use of the racecourse in July or August for holding their annual camp.—-Permis-sion was granted subject to all arrangements being carried out to the satisfaction of the secretary.
