ALLEGED LIBEL.

Our solicitor, Mr C. A. Loughnan, says this morning’s Palmerston Times, yesterday received on our behalf a writ for damages for alleged libel In connection with the fire at Messrs Millar and Giorgi’s on the night of Tuesday, April 4. The writ is issued on behalf of Mr Victor ,M. Braund, and the libel is said to be contained in a statement by Superintendent Warner, of the Palmerston North Fire Brigade, and published in our report of the fire.

A writ for a similar amount has also been received by Superintendent Warner.
