Adelaide, April 2

The State elections took place yesterday. The Ministerialists have been handicapped by the Premier’s sickness.

The polling was heavy, _ Not counting the Northern Territory, where the voting is not yet complete, the latest returns for the Assembly show: — Fabour 25 Ministerialists ... 19

The Premier, Mr Peake, and all Ministers who offered themselves, got back safely. In the Northern Territory, the Fabourites, who previously held one seat, are leading for both. Complete returns so far to hand give Labour a gain of two seats in the Assembly and one in the Council.

Adelaide, April 4

The Fabour Party again swept the polls in the metropolitan area. Later counts may slightly alter the position of parties, but at best the Liberals can only secure a lie, and the chances are in favour of a Fabour majority.

The counting of the local option vote is postponed till to-day. The result is anxiously awaited.
