CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.
Sydney, March 22
In connection with the trial of Dr. Carlo Fiaschi and Nurse Young ou the charge of manslaughter of the girl Nightingale at Lithgow on January xoth, the judge, iu directing the jury to discharge the two accused, said in view of the second examination which discovered the supposed missing organ the Crown case utterly failed. Evidently a mistake bad been made.
The jury added to their verdict of “not guilty” a rider stating that there was no evidence that the operation was unskilfully performed by Dr. Fiaschi.
[During the hearing of the case a doctor, who had previously slated that there was no indication of an operation for hemorrhoids, and that an important organ was missing, gave evidence that the supposed missing organ had been found, in the presence of a number of medical experts, attached to another organ. There were also indications of an operation for hemorrhoids- Under the circumstances he therefore reversed his previous evidence, which arose through the abnormal condition of the organs.]
