STATE GUARANTEED ADVANCES.

Wellington, March 18. Sir Joseph Ward presided over a meeting of the State Guaranteed Advances Board to-day, and a large number of loans for local public bodies for various purposes were considered, and loans were provisionally approved to the extent of ,£612,000. The preference was given to local bodies applying for moneys for roads, bridges, sewerage, drainage and water purposes, and those local bodies with backblock require- , meuts were first considered, and where the securities were right the applications were in gach case granted at per cent, interest with sinking fund. The various public bodies will be advised tomorrow of the result of their applications.
